I'm Lasma, a photographer based in Peterborough, and I document parties, milestones and get-togethers across Cambridgeshire with a warm, honest eye — no stiff line-ups, just the day as it really happened.

The joy, documented — not interrupted

My approach to celebrations is simple: I blend in and photograph what's actually happening. The excited arrivals, the party games, the proud grandparents, the moment the candles are blown out, the dance floor chaos at the end. You get to be a guest at your own celebration instead of chasing everyone with a phone.

I work quietly around the edges, so nobody feels watched. Children usually forget I'm there within minutes, which is exactly when the best photographs happen.

What I capture at a celebration

From intimate family dinners to big milestone parties, I photograph the details and the people: the table set for a special meal, the carefully chosen outfit, the tears during a speech, the group hug at the end of the night. If there are speeches, cake-cutting or a first dance, I'll be ready for all of it.

I'm also happy to photograph the quieter moments — a grandmother and grandchild sharing a seat, or a couple stealing a minute away from the noise. Those are often the frames families treasure most.

How it works

We'll have a quick chat beforehand so I know the timings, the venue and the moments you don't want to miss. On the day I'll arrive a little early, find the best light, and stay as long as you need me. Afterwards, your photographs arrive in a private online gallery, ready to download, print and share.

Celebrations can be held anywhere — your home, a village hall, a restaurant, a soft-play centre, a pub garden or a marquee in a field. I'll work with whatever space you've chosen.

How long do you stay at a party?

That's up to you. Some families book an hour to cover the cake and games, while others want me there for the whole event. We'll agree a length that suits your plans and budget.

Do you photograph children's parties?

Yes, and they're brilliant fun. I photograph the games, the giggles, the party tea and the cake moment, working around the children rather than asking them to stop and pose.

Can you take group photographs at our celebration?

Of course. I'll gather everyone for a few relaxed group shots at a natural point in the day, then get straight back to the candid coverage. Nobody has to stand in a line for long.

What about evening events and speeches?

I'm happy to stay into the evening for speeches, dancing and the moments that happen once the sun goes down. Low light is no problem — I'll use it to create warm, atmospheric photographs.

How far in advance should we book?

As early as you can, especially for weekend parties and December dates. That said, it's always worth asking — I sometimes have last-minute availability.
