What I offer

Family & Children Photographer in Peterborough & Cambridgeshire

Family life isn't tidy, and your photographs shouldn't pretend otherwise. I'm here for the muddy wellies, the toddler mid-tantrum, the little one curled into your shoulder, and the moment your kids forget they're being watched and just *are*. That's where the good stuff lives.

I'm Lasma, a family and children photographer based in Peterborough, photographing families across Cambridgeshire. My sessions are led by your children, not by me — so everyone can relax and be themselves.

The real stuff — cuddles, chaos and all of it

I don't ask your children to sit still and smile at the camera. I'd rather follow them as they explore, tickle them until they laugh, and let the photographs capture your family exactly as it is right now. The in-between moments — a hand held, a whispered secret, a cheeky grin — are the ones you'll treasure.

You'll be in the photographs too. I know it's tempting to stay behind the camera, but your children will want to see you in these memories one day. I'll make it easy and painless, I promise.

How a family session works

We'll meet somewhere your family loves — a park, a woodland, a beach, or your own back garden. I'll spend a little time just playing and chatting so the children warm up, then photograph as we go. There's no rushing and no pressure to perform.

Toddler sessions are full of movement and giggles, with plenty of time for cuddles and the odd snack break. Children love to explore and lead the way. Older children and teenagers often surprise themselves by enjoying it.

What's included in your family session

Sessions are available for bumps, siblings, children of every age, extended families, grandparents and everything in between.

  • A pre-session chat to plan location and timings
  • A relaxed shoot built around your children's pace

  • Tips on what to wear so everyone looks and feels comfortable

From toddlers to teenagers

Time goes so fast, and I love being invited into these stages. My sessions follow your children's lead — playful, gentle and often happiest at home where everyone is most comfortable. As they grow, we can return to the same spots over the years and watch your family story unfold in photographs.

Teenagers are welcome too — a relaxed session often captures a side of them you don't usually see. Family photography is for every age and every stage.

Where we can photograph around Peterborough

I photograph families across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire — from Ferry Meadows and Nene Park to the quieter corners of Whittlesey, Yaxley, Werrington, Orton and Hampton. Further afield, I love the woods and open spaces around Stamford, Oundle, Rutland Water and the villages of the Nene Valley.

If you'd rather stay home, that's a beautiful option too. Homes are full of your story, and the light in a living room can be just as lovely as a sunset field.

Good to know

Family & Children — frequently asked questions

What if my child won't cooperate?

That's completely fine — and honestly, very normal. I never expect children to perform. I'll work around their mood, follow their lead and photograph the real moments. Some of my favourite images come from "uncooperative" sessions.

What should we wear as a family?

Soft, earthy tones work beautifully and keep the focus on your faces and connection. Coordinate rather than match, and choose comfortable clothes you can move and sit down in. I'll send you a simple colour guide before your session.

Can we include grandparents or extended family?

Absolutely. Extended family sessions are lovely, and we can organise group photographs alongside the more natural, candid moments. Just let me know who's coming so I can plan the flow.

Do you photograph older children and teenagers?

Absolutely — please bring them. A relaxed session often captures a side of older children and teenagers you don't usually see, and they tend to open up once they forget the camera is there.

When is the best time of day for a family session?

Golden hour — the hour or so before sunset — gives the softest, warmest light, but it isn't essential. If your children are happiest in the morning, we'll work with that instead. Happy children always beat perfect light.
